Who we are

This policy covers thesignalsinstitute.com, run by The Signals Institute, a nonprofit organization based in West Palm Beach, Florida. It explains what information the site handles, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have.

Information we receive

  • Contact and Connect forms. Your name, email address, the topic or interest you choose and your message. Form submissions are delivered to us by Web3Forms.
  • Donations. Donations are processed by Stripe on its own checkout page. Stripe collects your payment details; we receive your name, email address, the amount and the payment status, never your full card number.
  • Technical data. Our host, Vercel, receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, as every web server does, and keeps short-lived logs for security. Your browser loads our typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message and follow up on programs, partnerships, volunteering or support you ask about.
  • To process donations, keep donation records and send acknowledgments.
  • To keep the site secure and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising tools. It stores one value in your browser's local storage to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page for fraud prevention.

Retention

  • Messages: kept as long as needed to respond and to continue a conversation you started.
  • Donation records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your choices

You may ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by writing to us through our contact form. We respond within 45 days and may need to confirm the request is yours.

Children

This site is intended for adults, parents, partners and supporters, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site.

Changes

We update this page when our practices change and show the date of the latest version at the top.
